Jalapeno Pea Hummus



This hummus is a party of sweetness from the peas and spicy from the peppers and I love it! The great thing about it is you can make it as spicy or mild as you desire. To turn up the heat, leave in some of the jalapeno seeds and add crushed red pepper flakes. Serve it as a dip for pita chips, crostini’s, or a veggie tray. You could also mix it with pasta. Shell pasta is one of my favorite shapes because all the flavors and ingredients get trapped in each individual pasta, guaranteeing each bite is perfect!




  • 4 cups frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 can garbanzo beans
  • Juice from 1 lemon
  • ½ tsp lemon zest
  • 3 Tbsp tahini
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 jalapenos
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh cilantro and salt to taste
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)


Clean the seeds out of the jalapeños and drain the can of garbanzo beans. Combine all ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Serve with pita chips, bread, veggies, or pasta.
