Since this overnight oatmeal recipe is the perfect combination of protein and complex carbohydrates, overnight oats keep me satisfied all morning or are a great choice after a workout. Top off with fruit and you have a complete breakfast in a jar!
- 1/3 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/3 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
- Optional add ins: Chia Seeds, Grape Nuts, peanut butter, chocolate chips
Combine all ingredients, stir, cover, and place in refrigerator overnight. Alter the ratio of yogurt to milk to change the texture of your overnight oats to your preference. If you add chia seeds or grape nuts, you may have to add more milk. I like to use a mason jar because it has a lid and fits well in the cup holder in your car. In the morning top with any of the follow and eat your overnight oats cold - right out of the refrigerator: fresh fruit, peanut butter, Grape Nuts, granola, cereal.
